Well-being
Under this title, a tool is made available
to company managers the objective of
which is to make a significant contribution
towards creating a solid preventive culture
at FCC Aqualia.
“5 minutes today for your safety”, is a pro-
gram consisting of a series of periodical
informative talks by the contract manager
consisting of five minutes of alerts and in-
dications prior to the start of a working day.
One of the important benefits of periodical
training on preventing occupational hazards
is that it serves as a reminder of risks and
that nobody is immune to accidents. It is
essential, therefore, for workers to unders-
tand the purpose of these talks on safety
since these will be useful and they will be
aware of the possible consequences of not
complying with safety rules and procedu-
res.
It is also important that the worker is able
share this newly-acquired training with tho-
se around him. The topics include issues
such as safety when checking the automo-
bile, fire extinguishers at home, etc.

How did this idea come up?
More than an idea, it is a tool. We are cer-
tain that things are done well because we
are convinced that it’s as it should be, and
these informative talks cover general and
specific safety related issues on a worker-
manager level “The idea is not to teach in
the strict sense of the word but rather to
motivate, build awareness, and be always
conscious of safety”.
Although informative talks have a long inter-
national tradition in all sectors, it is not such
a common practice in Spain. In France, for
5 minutes
today for your safety”
Implemented as a routine activity at FCC
Aqualia during the first year, the goal if for
these talks to become intense debates with
all workers participating actively and where
the topics will include the risks thaw can be
expected in the daily scheduled tasks.
