The Citizen Services Group has been ope-
rating in Colombia since the 1980s. At that
time, it was involved in the construction of
the Medellín Metro and is currently wor-
king on a project at the Bogotá River and
building the control tower at the El Dorado
Airport.
The Bototá River project involves the clea-
ning, revamping and recovery as a public
space of the river (in the Sector Alicachín
Stretch I) for Corporación Autónoma Re-
gional de Cundinamarca, the central de-
partment in the country. The contract con-
templates the widening of the riverbed over
a 40 Km stretch next to the western part of
the capital. The objective is to improve the
quality of water, prevent flooding, and re-

Medellín-San Marcos line in Colombia
FCC was awarded a contract by Energía
de Bogotá, S.A. The subsidiary of the Ci-
tizen Services Group specialising in indus-
trial projects was awarded the contract, in
consortium with Eléctricas de Medellín Co-
mercial S.A. for the construction, assem-
bly, assembly, testing and roll-out of three
high voltaje transmission lines stretching
over approximately 390 kilometres from
Medellín-Virigina-Alférez-San Marcos (500
kilovolts) as well as the south-western re-
inforcement line from Juanchito to Pance
(230 kilovolts). The project, worth more
than 44.5 million Euros, is expected to be
completed in 30 months.
This new project is in addition to other
contracts recently awarded to FCC such
as the one for refurbishing the central
control station of Metro de Medellín, and
the installation and commissioning of the
signalling systems for the northern zone of
Line A of the metro.
Thank to this award, the Group’s industrial
projects division becomes a supplier of
comprehensive solutions, based on sta-
ble relations with the leading public and
private clients in the country. The com-
pany is also involved in the civil works and
electro-mechanic assembly of the 500 kV
line in Nueva Esperanza, in the north of the
