Cristina García Herguedas,
manager of the Shared
Prevention Department of FCC Construcción meets
with organizations from EU member countries
Although a health and safety management
system is not an end in itself, it could be of
great help for a company in preventing and
avoiding the main health and safety hazards
more simply, systematically, and in a prac-
tical way.
In the context of social dialogue, the Eu-
ropean Construction Industry Federation
(ECIF) and the European Federation of Buil-
ding and Woodworkers (EFBWW) carried
out jointly several safety and health related
projects, including the drafting of a guide
for developing a safety and health manage-
ment system, a tool to encourage compa-
nies and to contribute to the development
of a health and safety management culture
at each construction company.
FCC Construcción participates actively in
preparing and disseminating these projects
through Cristina García Herguedas, the
Manager of the FCC Construcción Shared
Prevention Department. As the chairman
of ECIF’s Safety Committee, Christina Her-
guedas defends the interests of European
construction companies.
The dissemination of these projects is ca-
rried out through seminars organised in
European Union member states, focusing
on Eastern Europe, Ljubljana, Budapest,
Sophia and Istanbul as well as in other lo-
cations. The aim of these seminars is to
present the practical guide in model com-
panies such as FCC Construcción.
This implies the sharing of experiences
among the most representative organi-
zations in the European Union such as
the International Organization of Labour
Inspections, European Union trade repre-
sentatives (EFBWW regional organizations
(TÜRKİYE YOL-İŞ SENDİKA), business or-
ganizations (ECIF), OSH professionals and
researchers.
