End
of the season ...
Successful 4
th
edition of the
“FCC Friends of Golf”
tournament
On an overcast morning on 6 September at
Northampton University’s football pitches,
FCC United set out to bring the Waste
World Cup home. The team’s captain was
Ashley Gordon and its other members were
Phil Perigo, Phil Rogers, John Hopkinson,
Ricard Duran, Charlotte Crisp, Belén Cas-
tillo, Chrissie Wilkinson, Borja Muñoz and
Michael Ginbey.
The team got through the group stage with
the following results:
Valpak, 1 - FCC United, 0
FCC United, 1 - Taylors Bins, 1
FCC United, 4 - Compare Waste Costs, 0
However, they were knocked out in the se-
cond round with a 2-0 loss against Simply
Waste who went on to win the competition.
Ashley Gordon said, “I’m proud of the team
and that they played like lions. We fought
until the end and are very disappointed for
not having won. We went to all the games,
started well, but, as is often the case, ga-
mes always have two halves”.
They can always try again next year, but for
them, the 2013 season came to an end...
Game Over!
The 4
th
edition of the “FCC Friends of Golf” tournament was or-
ganised on 28 September with the participation of workers from
several of the Group’s divisions.
The spirit and commitment of all participants in the initiative was
total and despite the bad weather, nobody missed the event.
Since one of the objectives of the event is to encourage team
spirit, the game was played again this year under the “Scramble”
modality.
The solidarity initiative BIRDIES for SMILES was again the theme
in this edition, to support the Spanish Cancer Association. The
initiative consists of a one euro donation for each birdie achieved
by a player and it was a great success thanks to the fantastic
results achieved by the teams. CONGRATULATIONS TO EVER-
YONE!!
The FCC Friends of Golf encourage us to participate in the for-
thcoming edition in 2014 and to contribute ideas so that the ini-
tiative continues to improve.
