FCC collaborates with the

“My School First”

program

In keeping with FCC’s Corporate Social

Responsibility Plan in Panama, last Fe-

bruary, the Citizen Services Company de-

livered to the Panamanian government the

revamping project that had been executed

at Instituto Rubiano, as part of the “My

School First” program. This initiative was

executed as part of the collaboration agree-

ment signed by the FCC Group and the Pa-

namanian Government aimed at improving

the work conditions and the development

of the country’s educational community.

Instituto Rubiano is one of the largest

schools in Panama City’s San Miguelito dis-

trict, which currently as 3,000 students in

the morning and evening classes.

Miguel Jurado, Chairman of FCC Construc-

ción, was present at the signing ceremony

of the cooperation agreement among FCC

Construcción, the Ministry of Education,

and the Secretariat for Economic Affairs

and Competitiveness of the Presidency of

Among the works executed by FCC,

the revamping of the classrooms, pa-

vilions, and ground floor, where more

than 9,000 square meters of tiles were

placed, are worth mentioning. Spa-

ces were refurbished based on a new

design concept that included the ins-

tallation of more than 200 windows,

new furniture in the classrooms in five

pavilions, dining rooms, gymnasium,

and baths, as well as the redesign of

the façade, halls and the administrative

areas of the institution.

FCC also cleaned the sanitation net-

work up to the discharge point at the

sewerage system of the Instituto de

Acueductos y Alcantarillados Nacio-

nales (IDAAN), and also replaced and

adapted the sanitation equipment. It

also adjusted the electricity cables of

the infrastructure for the installation of

74 new air conditioners.

On 2 March, Instituto Rubiano opened its

doors in the presence of the president of

the Republic, Juan Carlos Varela. Students,

teachers and executives enjoyed the visit of

the president and proudly showed the new

installations.
