meets with the president of Peru
The chairman of FCC Construcción
also met with top representatives of the Lima
Metro Consortium.
Last September, the President of Peru, Ollan-
ta Humala Tasso, accompanied by the Minis-
ter of Transport and Communications José
Gallardo, received the senior representatives
of Concesionaria Metro de Lima-Línea 2 for
a business meeting to discuss the stages
and timeline for the construction of Line 2
of the Lima Metro, which began just a few
weeks ago. Miguel Jurado, the chairman of
FCC Construcción was also present in this
meeting.
Line 2 of the Lima Metro is the most im-
portant rail project in Peru’s history. It is the
country’s first underground railway. Stretching
over 35 kilometres, it will enable passengers
to get from the Ate district to Callao in just
45 minutes. The project includes a branch of
Line 4 to Jorge Chávez International Airport.
This mega-project will improve the quality of
life in Lima and save time for millions of Peru-
vians. Along its route it will cover 13 districts,
stopping at 35 stations and benefitting ap-
proximately 2.4 million inhabitants. The pro-
ject will require an investment of approxima-
tely 4,400 million euros, and the first section
will be completed in 2016.
