Caltalqua, the FCC Aqualia investee
providing supply and sanitation services in
the Sicilian province of Caltanissetta,
collaborates with Associazione Italiana
Persone Down (AIPD) in training of 3 to 10
year old children with Down’s Syndrome so
that they can be autonomous.
The aim of the project is to promote the
elements that make it possible to acquire
basic knowledge that is of use in the day-to-
day lives of these children. Hence, the
training teaches them to recognise the types
of coins and bills used as legal tender, how
to perform simple tasks on their own in
public offices, and all that they need to build
an identity based on awareness of
themselves, their own personalities, and
other skills. Accordingly, the program is very
