FCC Aqualia’s preventive model and
management of the accident rate, protection
equipment, psycho-social risk, or the good
results of the Company in terms of safety
and health, are some of the topics discussed
by Pascual Capmany in an interview
published in the FSL (Occupational Safety
Training) magazine
Pascual Capmany is the manager of FCC
Aqualia’s Occupational Safety and Health
Department. He and his team have been in
charge of implementing occupational risk
prevention, safety and health in the water
management Company which, as he
explains, was the first in the national sector
to be awarded the OHSAS 18001 certificate.
This milestone is synonymous with an
implemented prevention management with
effective results which, moreover, is gaining
ground in all of the activities and countries
where FCC Aqualia operates so as to be
able to obtain a global certification of the
Company.
Pascual also granted another interview in the
digital publication, Iagua, a website
specialising in the water sector and water
management. In this interview, he describes
some of the best practices that the Company
has developed that represent a great step
forward in the integration of risk prevention
and which has contributed to reducing the
rate of accidents at work. Among the other
topics discussed in the interview, where he
shared his opinion and experience,
describing how he law and regulations in
Spain and abroad governing this activity are
functioning.
Pascual Capmany Corchón is a technical
industrial engineer and, since 1991, has
beEn working in safety and health: up
until 1998, as a prevention technician in
occupational accident mutual insurance
companies and, since then, as a
prevention technician at FCC Aqualia.
Since 2001 he is the manager of the
Company’s
Safety
and
Health
Department.
Improvement Plan
Since 2005, the Company has been recognised
with international OHSAS 18001 certificate, being
the first national company in the sector to obtain
this certificate which has been constantly
renewed each year.
For FCC Aqualia, reducing the accident rate is a
constant concern. In the past twelve years, these
rates have constantly dropped by a total of 80%.
Prevention is a core value and it is necessary to
continue improving.
FCC Aqualia has implemented an Improvement
Plan focusing on the preventive culture which will
be developed over the next two years. Led by the
Safety and Health Department, the project aims
to improve the preventive culture and increase
the visibility of the Company’s commitment to the
safety and welfare of those who make up the
FCC Aqualia team.
