Esther Koplowitz, first vice-chairman and
core shareholder of FCC, attended the in-
vestiture ceremony for Gustavo Villapalos,
a director of FCC, and former rector and
Minister of Education for the Madrid region,
who received an Honorary Degree from
King Juan Carlos University.
The event held at the University campus
coincided with the start of the academic
year. Villapalos is a professor of History of
Law and Institutions at the Complutense
University of Madrid. He is currently dean
of the Law School, and he was rector of the
University from 1985 to 1995. That same
year he was appointed Minister of Educa-
tion, Culture and Sport for the Madrid re-
gion, a position he held until 2001.
Besides Esther Koplowitz, other leaders in
education and business also attended the
ceremony, including Esther Alcocer, chair-
man of the Board of Directors of FCC.
Gustavo Villapalos is also a director of Ce-
mentos Portland Valderrivas and a member
of the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence
and Legislation. He has an honorary de-
gree from several universities including, the
University of Lisbon, Paris XIII University,
Charles University in Prague, the National
University of La Plata (Argentina) and the
National Autonomous University of Mexico
(UNAM).
