lntegrating
a local
and international
workforce
FCC is a company where various professio-
nals converge and contribute their skills in
the projects where they are assigned. Many
leave their native countries to work and to
put into practice their knowledge and go to
a country which they do not know. The Pa-
namanian professionals contribute all their
knowledge and are willing to join forces and
benefit from the expertise from those who
come from abroad.
What does working at FCC mean for
you?
Working at one of the leading international
construction companies that offers the best
benefits for its collaborators is a source of
pride. David Aguirre, deputy-manager of
FCC Panama Accounting Department.
How would you describe the growth
of construction in Panama and, hence,
FCC’s growth?
The construction boom was already in pla-
ce when I arrived in Panama. It is obvious
that Panama has great demand and a great
need for infrastructures and FCC is a cons-
truction company that offers great quality,
knows how to execute construction work
well, and I believe that for the company co-
ming here has been very positive, and this
is also true for Panama since it is good to
have the presence of a quality construction
company such as FCC. Engineer José An-
tonio Checa, Safety and Health Manager at
FCC Centroamérica
Panama is undergoing continuous growth
and has a great projection in this respect,
since there are many projects that still have
to be executed. In Panama, FCC experien-
ced significant growth two years ago and
its continuity here will depend on how well
it manages its current projects. Engineer
Victor de Cos, Bajo Frío Hydroelectric Fa-
cilities, Production.
How was the interaction among Spanish
and Panamanian workers?
The cultural exchange has been very good
and we have learned how to be with people
who are outside the country, despite the
time difference. The process has been in-
teresting and both parts have learned from
each other. Engineer Aileen Aguilar, head of
Tenders in Panama.
How do you see FCC’s future in Panama
over the next ten years?
I believe that FCC’s future in Panama will
continue to be very positive since there are
still many projects to be executed and FCC
should have no problem in continuing to
execute projects for the government or for
private enterprises. Abdiel Sanjur, Accoun-
ting, Panama Tenders Department.
What do you expect from FCC?
I expect it to maintain its status in our cou-
ntry since it meets all requisites for con-
tributing to the development of Panama’s
road network. It is a good example of what
a foreign company that is responsible can
achieve in other countries. Engineer Betza-
bé Filós, deputy manager in the Collections
Department.
