.A.S.A.
celebrated the Earth Day
by ecological education
Our location in Zohor
(Slovakia) we welcomed
students from
elementary school and
organized for them the
field trip
Friday, 22th of April belongs to International
Earth Day. This day, many people around the
world stops and reflect on the environment
issues. Many schools on this day go to the
countryside, or schedule a job on campus,
such as planting, cleaning and so on.
We at .A.S.A. are very concerned about
ecological education for our young ones and
we celebrated this day in two ways. Firstly,
ecological artistic competition “Drawing with
Smietko“ was closed and the winner was
announced. In this competition students
were creating works from waste materials,
such as PET bottles, old paper, packaging
for eggs and giving them a second life. The
winner of the competition is the Elementary
school with kindergarten István Széchenyi
Horne Saliby.
However, it is still true that it is better to see
once than to hear a hundred times. There-
fore we took advantage of the sunny and
warm day, Earth Day, to organize the field
trip through the technologies in location
Zohor. Elementary school students got to
know how secondary raw materials – paper,
plastic and glass – are processed. They saw
how the the sorting line works, where the
hand final-sort of these materials is organi-
zed. As raw materials are already sorted by
color and quality, they are packed and sent
to processing plants. By seeing the landfill,
students were able to imagine how much
waste we are generating as citizens.
We are pleased that we in .A.S.A. can con-
tribute to the education of children and thus
contribute to good habits in dealing with
waste.
