International Women’s Day

Message from the Chairman, Esther Alcocer Koplowitz,

and the CEO, Carlos M. Jarque

The celebration of International Women’s Day

encourages us to recognise the courage and

the determination of women who have played

and continue playing a key role in the history

of their countries, companies, institutions,

and communities. It is also an opportunity for

reflecting on the progress achieved and on the

important challenges that lie ahead.

Under the initiative, «Planet 40-50 by 2030:

Step it up for Gender Equality», the U.N. has

proposed several objectives to be achieved in

the 2030 horizon, including, ending all types of

discrimination and violence against women and

girls throughout the world.

As you know, at FCC we have been developing

for years equality policies within our own

companies. In 2015, at the Group we have signed

four new Equality Plans: FCC Construcción’s

2nd plan; FCC Aqualia’s 2nd plan, as well as

the first plans at Special Cleaning Services and

at FCC Medio Ambiente. Besides these plans,

other Group companies already have their own

equality plans: Fomento de Construcciones y

Contratas, S.A, Cementos Portland Valderrivas,

FCC Industrial and Infraestructuras Energéticas,

S.A.

Also, last year, FCC Industrial was awarded

the Company Equality Seal by the Ministry of

Health, Social Services and Equality in Spain; a

sign of excellence and recognition for applying

policies contemplating equal work conditions,

organizational models, and in other areas such

as company services, products, and advertising.

FCC Aqualia has also been awarded this

recognition.

These plans and awards represent the

achievement of everyone and reflect the

commitment of all of us who are part of the FCC

Group.

To be able to achieve real equality in our

companies, it is essential to increase the number

of women in managerial positions. Little by

little, we have increased the number of female

executives, currently 24% of the total. We will

have to increase this percentage over the coming

years since, if equality advances, so does society,

the economy and companies. Therefore it is the

responsibility of everyone, men and women, to

promote it and to eradicate anything that might

represent an infringement of this right.

At FCC, we will continue to enable and favour the

access, training, and promotion of women who

are part of our Group since we are convinced

that this will have a positive impact on all of us.

Warm regards for everyone. Let’s celebrate this

day by joining forces to achieve the justice and

equality to which we all aspire.
