The IDA World Congress on Desalination
and Water Reuse was held in Tianjin, China,
140 kilometres from Beijing, on 21 to 15 of
October of this year. Held every two years,
the event also features technical seminars
and round table discussions, and an exhibit
displaying the latest desalination technolo-
gies.
Under the heading: “Desalination: a promise
for the future”, the leading companies in this

by the International Desalination Associa-
tion. Spain played a major role as one of the
world’s major power in this segment.
For another year, Aqualia Infrastructures set
up a corporate stand where it described its
vision in the field of desalination, as a leading
player of a sector in which Spanish compa-
nies have a major presence. At the stand,
it displayed its experience as designers and
builders of desalination, de-brining, and ter-
tiary treatment plants that make it possible
to reuse water in Spain as well as in other
countries such as Algeria and Chile.
The congress focused on issues such as
desalination technology, environmental sustai-
nability, plant management, finance, applied
technologies and good practices.
