The Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia stretches over an

the Kingdom are Mecca,
Medina, Jeddah, Damman
and Riyadh.

and development, it is no
longer considered just a
country of sand and oil.
Situated in the centre of the Arabian Peninsula, Riyadh is the largest city in
the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It spreads over an area of 1,554 square kilo-
metres and has a population of nearly 4.9 million. Since 1902, it is political
and administrative capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the home
of the royal court, ministries, and State agencies. It is also considered the
largest economic hub in the Middle East since it is the home of major cor-
porations, multinationals, and investment groups.
It has become an attractive tourist and business destination thanks to the
large number of tourists and companies that establish their headquarters
in the city.
