celebrate the long
service of two of its employees
FCC Environment has been providing services to Allerdale since 1996
to a population of 92,000 residents.

Allerdale Borough Council and FCC Envi-
ronment marked the long service of two
key team members this month.
FCC Environments Area Manager Andrew
Baxter presented citations for each man:
“Phillip Irving joined Allerdale Borough
Council in 1991 as a general Street Clean-
sing Operative, covering the north of the
area. FOCSA Services, now FCC Environ-
ment, took over the running of the street
cleaning in 1996 and Philip transferred
along with all the other staff. In 2003 he
took on the roll of Barrow Man for the
Town of Silloth, his home town, and has
remained in that position ever since. Phillip
is a reliable conscientious worker, he looks
after the town of Silloth, always goes that
extra mile and is highly thought of by many
local people and councillors.
“Richard Hudson was also employed by
Allerdale Borough Council in a position
then known as ‘Side Loader Driver’ on the
street cleaning service, and he also trans-
ferred to FOCSA Services, now FCC Envi-
ronment, in 1996. Richard was initially as-
signed to the Maryport area where he was
popular with local business people and
councillors. He later transferred to the
Workington area. Richard has remained a
driver/operative for the full length of his
service but has undertaken training to be-
come a Swingo driver as an additional
