Orange County has a population of 1.2
million, the fifth most populated county in
the State of Florida. It comprises Orlando
and the surrounding areas. It is also one of
the main and most popular tourist
attractions in the country as the home of
the most famous theme parks in the United
States and one of the places receiving the
most number of tourists; 65 million each
year.
The two zones of Orange County awarded
to FCC have a total population of 400,000
residents and the 83,000 households
throughout
the
region
generated
approximately 100,000 tons of waste each
year.
High technology
To collect urban solid waste, FCC will
be using automatic side-loading, gas-
powered trucks which are less polluting
and noisy than conventional trucks.
The new technologies that the Citizen
Services Group will contribute pursuant
to the contract will make it possible to
perform quality work that is also
environmentally-friendly.
