What does this project involve?
The project involves the construction of two
dams and their respective hydraulic sys-
tems in order to generate energy. The main
upstream dam is the Ribeiradio and the
downstream on, 8 kilometres downstream,
is the Ermida dam. These are straight gravity
dams of vibrated concrete with a maximum
height of 83 and 40 metres, respectively,
and a total volume of hydraulic concrete of
450,000 m
3
.
The Ribeiradio and Ermida dam projects include the access road to the Ribeiradio
dam and the refurbishment of the EM 569 road at the Vouga River near Aveiro and 50
kilometres north of Coimbra.
