FCC Medio Ambiente’s branch in Aragón-
Rioja finished sealing the non-hazardous
industrial waste landfill site of the automo-
bile company General Motors in Pozuelo
de Aragón (Zaragoza). After completing the
work, the Group will be in charge of main-
tenance of the site over the next 30 years.
The sealing of the facilities was deemed
completed in the official event on 3 June.
Present in the event were several authori-
ties and managers. These included Sandra
Ortega Bravo, general manager of Sustai-
nability of the Aragón Government: Antonio
J. Cobo, managing director of General Mo-
tors; José Jerónimo Gracia Martínez, the
mayor of Pozuelo de Alarcón; and Joaquín
Jiménez López de Olate, manager of FCC’s
Aragón-Rioja branch office. Jiménez López
de Olate, who hosted the event, explained
to the audience the different works that the
Company executed in order to seal the site
that covered an area of 6.5 hectares.
The event marked the end of an important
chapter of mutual collaboration between
FCC and General Motors over the years.
The confidence that the region of Aragón
has placed on FCC has been ongoing for
many years. In the eighties, the Govern-
ment of Aragón entrusted the project for
the construction of the industrial waste lan-
dfill site to the Company. FCC subsequently
executed and managed the site until the
cessation of activities in October 2008.

Committed to the
environment
The design of the project was in ac-
cordance with the technical quality
required by current regulations that
ensure that environmental controls
function throughout the closure pe-
riod and thereafter by implementing
a closure plan pursuant to Spanish
Royal 1841/2001.
After its closure, the site will function
as a unit for the environmental con-
trol of the industrial waste over a
30-year period, as required by the
corresponding department of the
Government of Aragón.
