FCC Medio Ambiente, at the

2

nd

edition of the Cities Forum

FCC Medio Ambiente took part in the

second edition of the Cities Forum

Madrid through Asociación de Empresas

de Jardinería (Association of Gardening

Companies, ASEJA). Raúl Pérez Vega,

manager of FCC Medio Ambiente’s Madrid

branch office and a member of ASEJA’s

Board of Directors, made a presentation

in the panel of experts on “The five

quality of life elements in cities”.

The main perspectives and innovations

on sustainability and wellbeing in urban

spaces were the key topics of the second

edition of Cities Forum Madrid, organi-

sed by IFEMA (Feria de Madrid). During

the three days of the event, the program

covered all topics on the multidisciplinary

management of these surroundings whe-

re sustainable environmental management

appears to be one of the keys for transfor-

mations aimed at improving the quality of

life of people.

FCC was present at the Forum, represen-

ted by Raúl Pérez Vega, manager of FCC

Medio Ambiente’s Madrid branch office

who participated as a representative of

ASEJA, an association of which he is a

member of the Board of Directors and of

which the Group is a founding member.

His presentation in the panel of expert

versed on “The five quality of life elements

in cities’. The theme of this presentation

was focused from the perspectives of ur-

ban barks and gardens. He discussed the

sites for socialising and

for cultural and artistic

exchange, biodiversity

reserves and natural

lungs, areas

for accessibility

and inclusion

most relevant aspects for the green areas

of cities in connection with the protection

of natural urban diversity, universal acces-

sibility to the surroundings, social inclu-

sion, cultural management and the diffe-

rent strategies for living in healthy cities.

The head of the Madrid branch highlighted

the different tools and the measures im-

plemented to improve accessibility and

the inclusion of all people in the cities

and its parks, especially children’s parks,

designed as a place for socialising and

communicating, all of which contributes to

stimulating children for their development

and learning.

Raul Pérez Vega also underscored the role

of city gardens as artistic elements that

create added cultural and touristic value

and as venues for hosting events. He also

highlighted the role of green areas in urban

centres in improving the health of residents

since they act as the lung of cities thereby

regulating the temperature and reducing

noise and air pollution.
