the Reconquista and due to its location as
the frontier between the Kingdoms of Cas-
tile and Granada, where skirmishes and
conflicts were common, “la Frontera” (the
Frontier) was added to its name. At that
time, between the 13th and 14th-centuries,
the city was already famous for the quality
of its wines.
Following the discovery of America and the
conquest of Granada, Jerez de la Frontera
became one of the most prosperous cities
in Andalusia thanks to its proximity to the
ports in Seville and Cadiz that burst with
FCC Aqualia, manager of the city’s Municipal Water
Service, was one of the organizing entities
of the IWA LET Congress
