already processed 1 million tons of used oil
into high quality base lubricating oil. “Apart
from an important contribution to resource
extraction, we were able to save 3 million
tons of CO
2
emissions and hence contribute

Due to the increasing demand for base
lubrication oil out of used oil, .A.S.A. has
introduced 14 new rail tank wagons for the
environmentally friendly transport of the used
oil to the refinery. 1,2 million litres of used oil
can be transported for recycling with these
wagons at one time.
From used oil to high performance

(.A.S.A.), base oil (pur60), motor sports
oil (premium).
At the refinery of Puralube site in
Germany, every year over 150,000
tons of used oil are processed by using
catalytic hydroprocessing into base
oils of the highest quality using the
HyLube™ patented method developed
by UOP (Universal Oil Products, a
Honeywell company).
The HyLube™ process is a patented
catalytic process for refining used
lubricating oils to produce high
technology lube base stocks.
In this refi ning process, in which used
mineral oil is processed in a pressurized
hydrogen environment, more than 70%
of the used oil is converted to high quality
base oil products. Puralube produces
and distributes up to four different
viscosities of top-quality, highgrade
base oils for the European lubricants
market. These products not only meet
strict industry specifi cations and tough
environmental standards, but are also
implemented in motor sports.
