World No

Tobacco Day

Once again FCC participates in the World

No Tobacco Day held worldwide on 31

May. The objective is to create awareness

on the health hazards associated with

smoking and to promote the implementa-

tion of efficient public policies to tobacco

consumption.

Quitting smoking significantly improves the

quality of life from the health and econo-

mic standpoint. Recovering lung capacity,

the sense of taste and smell, the positive

effects on the skin and dental health, the

sharp reduction of the possibilities of de-

veloping cardio-respiratory problems are

some of the most important benefits stres-

sed by the World Health Organization of

quitting smoking.

FCC also joins the campaign launched by

the WHO and the Framework Convention

on Tobacco Control of its Secretariat which

calls on all countries to get ready for plain

packaging of tobacco products. Plain pac-

kaging is an important measure to reduce

the attractiveness of tobacco products,

restricts the use of packages for advertising

and promoting tobacco, limits misleading

packaging and labelling, and increases the

effectiveness of health warnings.
