Gastronomy, a fusion of different cultures
Lima also offers a rich cuisine, the result
of the fusion of several cultures with those
of Peru. Its dishes are inspired by Spa-
nish, oriental, Italian, Afro-American, and
Latin-American cultural and racial mix.
Lima’s cuisine offers many exceptional
dishes such as ceviche, stuffed potatoes,
riod. These monuments include: the Cathe-
dral, an architectural jewel; the Torre Table
palace one of the best examples of Lima’s
residential style from the 17th- century; and,
Casa Pilatos, the current headquarters of
the Constitutional Court.
The city’s landmarks also include: the Pla-
za de Acho bullring, the oldest in America;
the Alameda de los Descalzos, a pedestrian
walk in the Rímac district full of statues; the
Parque de las Leyendas, where zoology, ar-
chaeology, and botany go hand-in-hand; the
Inquisition Museum; the Army Museum For-
teleza del Real Felipe, a great tourist attrac-
tion; and the Government Palace in the city’s
historic district located in Plaza Mayor, one
of the country’s most important buildings as
the home of the executive power as well as
for its architecture with a neo-baroque main
façade inspired by French architecture, and
the lateral neo-colonial lateral façade.
Also located in the Lima region is Ciudad de
Caral, a vestige of an ancient civilization, da-
ting back to more than 5000 years, and a
tourist attraction for those interested in pre-
Columbine history and archaeology.

The recommended drinks and beverages
include chicha morada, pisco and the lo-
cal beer and, for dessert, one must try its
