The commissioners of the European In-
vestment Bank (EIB), Marco Beros, the
engineer in charge of water treatment, and
Wolfgang Spieles, senior Loan Officer for
the Western Balkans, visited the worksite
to check the progress achieved at the pro-
ject in Niksic, Montenegro which is being
executed by Aqualia Infrastructuras, a sub-
sidiary of Aqualia.
Representatives from the local authorities
also visited the site, including Nebojsa Ra-
dojicic, the mayor of Niksic, and Olivera Bo-
zovic, Manager of the Public Water Com-
pany. They were greeted by Juan Bofill,
manager of Aqualia Infrastructuras Europe
Zone director; Fernando Ruiz, managing
director of Tecnoma, a Spanish company
engaging in providing technical assistance
for the project, and Jadranka Vojinovic, ma-
nager of the Project Implementation Unit.
The waste water treatment plant in Niksic
is expected to be completed by Decem-
ber 2013. It will be most important water
treatment plant in the country, handling a
total volume of 15,500 m
3
, and will be pro-
viding drinking water to a population of
more than 100,000.
Funded by the EIB, the project has enabled
Aqualia to gain a foothold in the Balkans,
a region of great business growth in the
waste water treatment segment in the short
and medium term thanks to the European
pre-adhesion funds.
