2010 greenhouse gas emissions report verifed
Of the nine Spanish companies holding ve-rifcation, FCC Construcción is the very frst construction company to earn verifcation of its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in-ventory from AENOR, an accredited green-house gas verifcation authority.
FCC Construcción is pioneering progress again, by striving for the development of protocols to quantify and reduce GHG emissions. Although FCC’s GHG emissions are, quantitatively speaking, not very signif-cant in the construction sector, greenhouse gases are associated with climate change, an environmental problem with clear world-wide repercussions.
Therefore a greenhouse gas measurement protocol was introduced during the course of 2010 that will more accurately quantify the emissions released by construction and identify opportunities for improvement.
Mainstreaming the problem of climate change into our organization’s strategy also gives us a clear competitive advantage, sin-ce the government has decided to reward sustainable conduct.
