Future technicians receive training at
Aqualia’s laboratory in Oviedo

programs are completing
their internships as
technicians during this
academic year.
In keeping with Aqualia’s Corporate So-
cial Responsibility policies, Aqualia is co-
llaborating, as it usually does, in providing
training courses to students at its Oviedo
laboratory. During this academic year, seve-
ral groups of students have been doing an
internship in the company’s facilities. They
include students from the Environmental
Chemical cycle from Universidad Laboral;

another group involved in Environmental
Health at Instituto Cerdeño,; and students
from Instituto Ciaño’s cycle of Manufactu-
ring Operations for Pharmaceutical Pro-
ducts. All of them will earn a professional
training degree as technicians in their feld.
Analysis laboratories are essential for de-
veloping Aqualia’s business. The main
function is to ensure that the quality of
water supply is optimal as determined by
health authorities. In fact, the Oviedo labo-
ratory features the most innovative and eff-
cient material resources in the market. The
laboratory was awarded the Quality Mana-
gement System (UNE-EN ISO 9001:2008)
and Environmental Management (UNE-EN
ISO 14001:2004) certifcates. It has also
been certifed by ENAC (National Accredita-
tion Entity) in accordance with the UNE-EN
ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standard in recogni-
tion of its technical competency in perfor-
ming analyses.
Each year, Aqualia performs 20,000 water
analyses at its fve certifed laboratories.
This quality system employs more than
100 technicians involved in analytical con-
trol and also serves as the support for the
development of currently ongoing R+D+i
projects.
