This new contract underscores a real commitment too introducing electric mobility technology to ena- ble more sustainable city services and with the objective of minimizing the environmental impact. Accor- dingly, 34 electric vehicles will be used, including vans and inspec- tion cars (one of them a municipal supervision vehicle) and ancillary sweeping vehicles, in addition to a large amount of electric tools. Side-loading vehicles In addition, the new waste collec- tion service with a side-loading system shall replace most rear- loading systems; this is a very re- levant change, translating into a considerable improvement of the efficacy and efficiency of the ser- vice. As a result, the Company will be incorporating seven new side-loading waste collection units and a unit for washing the interior and exterior of containers in addi- tion to high-pressure hydro-clea- ning equipment to clean and dis- infect the container islands and to remove stains and graffiti.
