W E L L N E S S 32 W E L L N E S S The Aragón-La Rioja branch office held its 4th Open Day at FCC’s Zara- goza facilities. The event that took place on 1 De- cember was aimed at all the children, grandchildren and nephews of wor- kers between the ages of five and 12. Carmelo Jiménez Bozal, the branch office manager, welcomed around 30 children, accompanied by family members, who attended the event. Many activities were programmed for the children. With the collaboration of CREA (Confederación de Empre- sarios de Aragón), workshops were organized on preventing hazards at home where the youngsters learned things ranging from how to extinguish a frying pan on fire to basic first aid. José Ramón Ruiz, a prevention technician, talked about FCC and road safety. 4th Open Door event in Zaragoza In addition, together with the Once Foundation, awareness workshops were held, where children could walk with guide dogs and play goal ball, the only sport created specifically for people who are blind or have low vi- sion. The game is based mainly on the auditory sense to detect the tra- jectory of the ball, which has bells in- side that make noise as the ball mo- ves. This sport, therefore, requires a great capacity for spatial orientation to be able to intercept the ball, stra- tegically located in the field and make the throw. One thing to note is that all players wear opaque masks to match the lack of visibility of the participants. In the recycling workshops, the chil- dren learned how to differentiate the different containers and how to sort the containers at home. In addition to these activities, there was an exhibition of the machinery fleet, where the children had the opportunity to understand and see how they operate, and to get into the cabins to see them inside. All attendees were given a bag with different gifts from Fundación Once and healthy company t-shirts. It was a day of learning and aware- ness accompanied by games and good times, where both children and adults enjoyed a day with the family.
