Last year FCC signed its 2nd Equality and Efficiency Plan, which seeks to achieve equal treatment and opportu- nities between women and men and eliminate any hint of discrimination on the basis of sex. Gheorghita, let’s talk about you. I was born in Tirgoviste, Romania. I come from a very humble family. this company and thought to myself, why not you? How do you think women are trea- ted in Spain? Equality in Spain is well regulated. I think it is an advanced country where women seem more aware and fight for their rights. I come from a country where this is not the case. How was your first day at work? To tell you the truth, when I saw my- self the first morning surrounded by men and the boss introduced me to my future colleagues, I was quite ner- I N T E R V I E W FCC’s sewer system cleaning and maintenance service has a woman for the first time. She is Gheorghita Petre, 35, from Romania. FCC has chosen Gheorghita, a person with a very positive attitude and a great desire to work. My father was a milling lathe opera- tor and my mother a homemaker. I have two sisters who currently live with me in Spain together with my mother. My father passed away. In Romania, I studied and graduated as a professional seamstress but I have not followed up in recent years for lack of time. I came to Spain when I was 21 years old and, after several years working as a domestic helper and cook, I took the chance and sent my CV to FCC, a large company where I thou- ght I might be given an opportunity.
