Aqualia improves its preventive culture in all of its international contracts Aqualia held the first training semi- nar on the Prevention of Occupatio- nal Hazards for its Safety and Health Technicians (HS Manager) at its in- ternational division. Company pro- fessionals from Italy, Mexico, Chile, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Kosovo met in Spain to participate in the four- day event which included training to implement safety and health policy in the company in all international con- tracts, certified in accordance with OHSAS 18001 standards. The first event of the training cour- se was a session organized at the Las Tablas corporate headquarters in Madrid where Luis de Lope, ma- nager of Aqualia’s International divi- sion, welcomed all of those who at- tended and who were able to learn about the general policies and ob- jectives in relation to the Prevention of Occupational Hazards policy im- plemented by the Company, the pro- cedures worldwide, and were also able to analyse the reports and data on the rate of accidents and partici- pate in a workshop focusing on the investigation of incidences. The two subsequent days of the se- minar were organised at Aqualia’s facilities in Ávila. The aim was to gain further knowledge and put into practice the procedures for work- at-heights and in confined spaces. The course was led by Ignacio Ro- mero, a support technician who is an expert in both specialties. Inter- national technicians were also able to analyse the management system applied by the Company in the ac- tivities it conducts in Ávila. Pascual Capmany, the manager of Aqualia’s Safety and Health at Work Depart- ment, closed the training cycle with a monographic session on the pre- ventive culture. This initiative, promoted by Aqualia’s Prevention of Occupational Hazards (POH) department and organised by Jesús Ventura, POH coordinator in the international area, is part of the Preventive Culture Improvement Plan 2015-2018 implemented by the Company to bolster its safety and health policy. The plan focuses on three strategic lines: improve lea- dership in safety and health; enhan- ce the visibility of the Company’s commitment through communica- tion and awareness-building; and improving the learning process at the organization. This initiative is in keeping with the Plan for the Improvement of the Preventive Cul- ture 2015-2018 implemented by the Company to bolster its safety and health policy.
