FCC Construcción wins its first contract in the Netherlands FCC Construcción won its first con - tract in the Netherlands. The scope of the project includes the design, construction, and maintenance of a section of the A9 Badhoeve - dorp-Holendrecht in the Nether - lands, near the city of Amsterdam and its airport. The project is worth an investment of more than 845 million euros and an execution pe - riod of seven years plus another fourteen years of maintenance, of which two will be within the scope of FCC Construcción. The project contemplates the re - modelling of a 10.4-kilometer sec - construction tion of the A9 motorway, which in - cludes the widening of the platform to pass from three to four lanes in each direction, with the correspon - ding expansion of existing structu - res, as well as new links with other roads, including bridges and un - derpasses. In addition, the 1.5 km of the mo - torway will be buried around the city of Amstelveen and covered with a slab to create a false tunnel in three different sections, which will allow the construction of a new park above ground. Another impor - tant aspect is the extension of the bascule bridge over the Schiphol canal, replacing the deck while complying with very strict technical and time requirements to avoid in - terference with navigation. The project will be implemented by maintaining traffic on the existing motorway. This will require a major planning effort and careful execu - tion, including the management of numerous temporary detours. B U S I N E S S 16 B U S I N E S S
