Development of an energy from waste facility in Drumgray The 350 million sterling pound project includes a state-of-the-art energy from waste plant capable of producing electricity and heat. FCC Environment unveiled a new master plan for the sustainable, long-term future of its Greengairs landfill site, in North Lanarkshire, which is a direct response to the “zero waste” strategy of the Sco- ttish Government. This strategy contemplates the forthcoming ban on the landfilling of food, paper, garden and any other biodegrada- ble household waste before the 1 environment January 2021, which will cause a significant shortfall of waste treat- ment facilities capable of dealing with this waste.
