The monitors, all volunteers, received a
one-week training course so that they
could lead the warm-up sessions of their
colleagues.
Otoniel Santana, an Occupational Hazard
Prevention technician at the FCC Environ-
ment department indicated that since this
initiative was launched in June 2012, ab-
senteeism has been reduced by 50%. In
addition, since January to date, no worker
has required medical attention for back in-
juries that are quite common for those who
work at the parks and gardens.
The workers
welcomed this initiative
and are feeling
better now, no longer
suffering from any
job-related discomfort
The initiative was welcomed by workers.
They say that they feel more agile, lighter,
and that they are no longer suffering from
any job-related discomfort. The idea is ex-
pected to serve as an example and should
spread to other locations where FCC ca-
rries out its activities.
