ve Alpine scenery; from Lake Tegernsee in
Bavaria, through the exuberant Alpine fields
in the Tyrol region and the spectacular mou-
ntain landscape of South Tyrol, to the sho-
res of Lake Garda in Italy. Despite the pictu-
resque scenery, for the group of 18 people
who participated, the trip was exhausting.
The 480 kilometre long route was very de-
manding and they had to climb 12,000 me-
ters in 6 days. The group faced the most
difficult part on the second day. “Going up
to the top of Patscherkofel (a local moun-
tain in Innsbruck) was the most exhausting
part”, Kurt Müller told us, although despi-
te the efforts, enjoyed this adventure. This
cyclist not only travels through the Alps in
his bicycle; since the mid-nineties, he has
gone three times to New Zealand where he
rode the bicycle between 6,000 and 7,000
kilometres.
Moderate but regularly
To keep in mental and physical shape,
however, it is not necessary to go to extre-
mes. Even short, but regular, sports ses-
sions are very good for our health. “PRO
Fit”, which has already generated great mo-
tivation and a liking for a balanced lifestyle,
will end in April 2013 with an evaluation and
medical check-up. It is expected that all
participants improve all medical values. Ne-
vertheless, for Wolfgang Spann, the physi-
cal trainer hired by “PRO Fit”, this does not
mean the end of the program “if the groups
remain together beyond the end of this year
and sports becomes a natural part of their
lives, then we would have really achieved
something”.
