The 2010 National Cultura Viva Awards, now in their tenth edition, were presented yesterday at the Casa de Vacas Theatre in Madrid’s Retiro Park; attendees included award winners and several well-known per-sonalities in Spanish culture.
These are the most prestigious awards granted by a private institution in Spain in the areas of the arts, culture and science.
The Esther Koplowitz Foundation was es-tablished in 1995 and is funded exclusi-vely with donations from its founder and chairwoman, Esther Koplowitz.
Its purpose is to help the most disadvantaged segments of the community.
The objective of the Foundation include the creation and maintenance of retirement homes and psycho-health aid for minors, the ill, and disadvantaged as well as pro-moting education, culture, the arts, science, and the protection and sustainability of the environment.
The Foundation is planning new aid programs for the very near future. It has made a commitment with the Valencia and the Valladolid city councils for the construction and outftting of two new homes for people with severe mental disabilities.
The patronage of Esther Koplowitz, personally and through the foundation has been recognized by various institutions.
