After the Mexican Agreement was signed by representatives of 140 cities worldwide, Proactiva Medio Ambiente, a subsidiary of Veolia, and FCC for Latin America and a partner at this event, has began to work with several Latin American cities to prepare an inventory of greenhouse gas emissions and to defne the Climate Plan for mitigating and adapting to climate change .

The carbon footprint has proven to be a useful tool for detecting the main sources of greenhouse gas emissions and identifying the opportunities for management improve-ment and for optimizing city services (trans-port, energy, solid waste and wastewater treatment) as well as for introducing clean
technologies and for analyzing innovative solutions for subsectors in which no pre-vious work had been carried out.
