Change in drug regulations
On 11 October 2007, Royal Decree
1345/2007 was approved. It governs the
procedures for the approval, registration,
and dispensation of drugs for human con-
sumption which are manufactured indus-
trially (Offcial State Gazette, no. 267, 7
November). This R.D. contemplates that
These can be classifed into three main ty-

Tranquilizers:
Depress psychic activity
(could affect sleep, diminish alertness,
cause blurry vision, etc.).
2.
Sedatives:
Reduce anxiety and have a
calming effect, similar to tranquilizers.
3.
Stimulants:
Act on the central nervous
system increasing the psychological
drugs that can reduce the ability to drive or
handle dangerous machinery must refect a
warning in the package.
The objective of the symbol is merely for the
patient’s information purposes. It is also
necessary to mention that drug prospectus
already contain a warning on the effects
of drugs on driving or handling dangerous
machinery.

se and disorders caused by any type of
substance will require special attention.
Drivers in group 1.
Non-professionals
In the case of drugs that are taken regularly
and which signifcantly affect driving ability,
it will not be possible to obtain or to renew
a driver’s license.
The abuse, dependency or disorders cau-
sed by the use of drugs will not be tolera-
ted.
When there is a history of these disorders,
it will be necessary to provide proof of ha-
ving been cured by submitting a favourable
report from a specialist who treats these
disorders.

Professionals
In the case of drugs that are taken regularly
and which signifcantly affect driving ability,
it will not be possible to obtain or renew a
driver’s license.
